Launching of ‘Islamic Banking & Finance Online Learning’

Kuala Lumpur: YB Senator Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, the Finance Minister II, Ministry of Finance Malaysia officiated the launching of ‘Islamic Banking & Finance Online Learning’ programme for Malaysia. The programme which is jointly produced by IIIF Education Sdn Bhd and In Fusion Solutions Sdn Bhd aims to satisfy the needs for knowledge and updated information in the Islamic Banking and Finance service industry. It is also a response to the call of the Malaysian government to position Malaysia as an international Islamic financial hub.

Today, Islamic finance in Malaysia is growing at a double-digit growth rate. “The rapid expansion (growth) of the Islamic Financial services industry in Malaysia is too fast, and there needed to be more education and training in developing and strengthening our Islamic banking and financial system to become more integrated locally and globally”, President/CEO, IIIF Education Sdn. Bhd, Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar said.

The Islamic Banking & Finance Online Learning Program is specially designed for aspiring working professionals, corporate bodies, bankers and adults learners. In the first phase, the programme introduces 6 stand alone modules covering all major areas in Islamic Banking and Financial System. Upon completion of these basic courses, the programme will offer another 24 specialisation modules, which will become the widest scope of modules in Islamic Banking and Finance worldwide, covering areas of Shari’ah, legal framework, accounting and prudential standards, Islamic capital market, banking and Islamic financial planning. All the 30 modules are using both traditional and e-learning approaches.

The ‘on-line learning’ offers a flexible way of learning where students can equip themselves with relevant knowledge at their own pace and time. This is certainly a very rewarding means to leverage on IT for knowledge acquisition and extension in Islamic finance.
