KLIFF 2005 Islamic Banking Award
Kuala Lumpur: Several prominent Islamic Financial Institutions and key players were honoured with Islamic Banking Award by YB Senator Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Finance Minister II, Ministry of Finance Malaysia. The award presentation ceremony was held at a gala dinner in conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum 2005 (KLIFF 2005) organised by Centre for Research and Training, CERT Event Sdn Bhd.
The award has been jointly established by Delloitte Consulting Malaysia and The International Institute of Islamic Finance Incorporate (IIIF) with the objectives to recognize, reward and encourage activities that lead to the promoting of outstanding works and performance in the fields of Islamic finance by the key players in this industry. The award has been established since 2004.
Three main categories for the award are the outstanding Islamic financial institution, most innovative Islamic financial products and special recognition for outstanding contribution in Islamic finance industry.
This year the CIMB Islamic Malaysia and Gulf Finance House Bahrain received the outstanding Islamic financial institution award. Each represents Malaysia and International category. Meanwhile, AM Merchant Bank has received the most innovative Islamic financial product for the product of Sukuk Al Mudharabah based from the concept of Parallel Mudharabah. While the Islamic Development Bank of Jeddah received the same in the international category for the product of Sukuk Al Istismar.
The special recognition for outstanding contribution award goes to the Accounting & Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions, Bahrain (AAOIFI) for its Sharia Board, The Banker Middle East, Dubai for its Magazine, Dow Jones Islamic Market Index, New York for its Islamic index and Microlink Systems Sdn Bhd, Malaysia for its IT solutions.
